4-H Means Business

4Her’s get the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to start their own business.  Your business can reflect your brand’s personality and distinguishing characteristics.  In this club, 4Her’s will develop a business plan, finance their start-up enterprise, and market their products and services at arts & craft fairs and festivals.

Must be 12 years old by January 1st of the club year.

Meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 5:00-6:00pm at the Extension Office

Art Club

Are you a creative person? Come learn and practice all of the different kinds of art: drawing, painting, sculpting, felting, and more!

Meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 3:45pm to 5:15pm at the Extension office (October through May)

Cloverbuds

For ages 5 through 8.

Cloverbuds help young people:

  •   Learn more about themselves and the world around them
  • Build skills to become competent, caring & contributing citizens
  • Develop positive attitudes about learning new things by hands-on involvement
  • Develop a relationship with a caring adult or older youth helper
  • Learn about the 4-H Youth Development program

Meets on the third Friday each month from 3:45pm to 5:15pm at the Extension office (October through May)

Cooking Club

Cooking Club is divided into two categories: Beginning Cooking for grades 4 & 5, and Advanced Cooking for grades 6+

Beginning Cooking meets the second Thursday from 3:45pm to 5:15pm at the Extension office (October through May)

Advanced Cooking meets the second Wednesday from 3:45 till 5:15pm at the Extension office (October through May)

Country Ham Project

The program details:

  • Youth meet once in January (usually during MLK weekend on Saturday or Monday) to learn about country hams and prepare their hams for curing and hanging.
  • End of May/early June, youth clean their hams and rehang them.
  • Tuesday before KY State Fair, youth will return to the office to clean their hams and pick out the best one to enter.
  • First Thursday of KY State Fair, youth will attend the fair and give a 3-5 minute speech in the morning and attend an awards ceremony in late afternoon.

Dairy Club

Meets on the third Friday of each month at 6:00pm, usually at the Extension office.

Disc Golf

Learn the rules, technique and skills associated with this free to play, family friendly sport!

Meets every Thursday at Harry Hill Park from 3:45-5:15 from March through May.

Dog Club

Come teach your dog the basics in behavior. There is also agility training and a dog camp in the spring. Youth learn about general nutrition and care among the different breeds.

All dogs must have rabies vaccination and be on a leash.

First and third Monday of each month from 6:00 to 7:00pm at 241 South Main Street, New Castle (during warmer months) and the 4-H Fairgrounds Building (during winter months). Always call and confirm meeting times & place!

Get Fit

Come have fun with us as we explore different methods to getting fit! We will also learn to make healthy fun snacks.​

Every Wednesday in January and February from 3:45pm to 5:15pm at the Extension office.

Horse Club

You do not need to have a horse to be in this club! Youth will learn the basics of caring for a horse, riding techniques, and much more.

Meets on the second Monday of each month from 6:00-7:30pm at the Extension office.

Knitting & Crocheting Club

Meets every Wednesday from 3:45pm to 5:15pm in October, November and part of December at the Extension office.

Livestock Club

All Livestock Club members receive assistance in learning about grooming and handling their livestock project. Members participate in monthly meetings and educational workshops to learn how to care for and exhibit their animals.

Meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm at the Extension office.

Livestock Skillathon

You do not need to have livestock to be a part of this club! Open to youth ages 5 through 18. Learn a variety of topics related to the identification, production, and management of beef cattle, sheep, swine, and goats. This club is an interactive and hands-on approach to learning about livestock with opportunities to participate in events and contests.

Meets every Friday at the Extension office.

Natural Resources Club

This club explores a variety elements and how they relate to our ecosystem. Come and play with us as we learn about the world around us!

Meets the second Tuesday of each month from 3:45pm to 5:15pm at the Extension office (October-May).

Photography Club

Come out and learn the do's and don'ts of photography. If you don't have your own camera, one will be provided! We like to share!

Pinterest Club

Pinterest, for those who have never experienced it, is an electronic bulletin board where people place things they like for others to look at. It is an environment built for sharing ideas and interests. It is a great place to get your creative juices flowing and that is exactly what we are going to use it for!

Sewing Club

The 4-H Sewing Club has two levels: Beginners and Experienced. We welcome all those who are interested in sewing. We teach youth the basics of sewing such as the identification of stitches and how to use a sewing machine.

Beginner Sewing meets every Monday from 3:45pm to 5:15pm at the Extension office from January-April

Advanced Sewing meets every Thursday from 3:45pm to 5:15pm at the Extension office from January-April

Shooting Sports Club

The disciplines included in this program are:

  • Shotgun (12 and 20 gauge)
  • Rifle (.22 cal. Bolt action, Air and BB)
  • Pistol (Air and .22 cal.)
  • Muzzleloader (Rifle and Pistol)
  • Archery (Compound Bare and Recurve, Bow Hunter and Target)Hunter Challenge)

All clubs and events are coordinated and supervised by nationally and state trained volunteers.

Shooting Sports organizational meetings are the first Monday of each month at 6:30pm at the Extension office.

Small Engine Club

This club creates the education and hands-on opportunity for youth to learn all about engines. Youth will identify and discover the function of different engine parts, learn compression ratios, safety issues, and lastly tear down and rebuild an engine all while learning the valuable life skills 4-H emphasizes like self-discipline, self-motivations, and goal-setting.

Meets the first four Wednesdays in March from 3:45pm to 5:15pm in the metal building at Harry Hill Park

STEM Club

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. In this club youth will get to build and program different robotic sets. We will also get to do different hands on experiments where the kids will learn all about science!

Teen Club

Teen Club is for youth in 8th- 12th grade and is focused on community service and leadership development. They go on many fun outings such as ice skating, and other fellowship activities.
